Taking forward the efforts by official statistical departments in respective GCC states, the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat conducted a two-day meeting for the GCC National Accounts Committee. The meeting aimed to lay the framework and set guidelines for the committee that consists of heads of national accounts units drawn from the respective GCC member states. The Discussions highlighted various issues related to national accounts, as well as the latest developments, challenges and related matters within the GCC statistical departments.
The Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat) recently held the first meeting for the GCC Demographic Statistics Committee. The two-day meeting, held at Holiday Inn Muscat, aimed to lay down the work scheme and set the framework for the committee which is comprised of the heads of demographics statistics units at the respective statistical departments from the GCC member states.

Recommendations to take forward the statistical system in the GCC region
Under the Auspices of His Excellency Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP), the GCC Statistical Centre (GCC-Stat) kicked off a five-day workshop held in association with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) as well as the International Energy Agency (IEA). The workshop, aimed to enhance trainers’ knowledge in issues related to cultivating energy statistics and energy balance in the member ESCWA states.
