Discussing the adoption of the GCC-Stat Data Quality Framework in the GCC Countries
Sunday the 9th of April, in its headquarters at the Omani capital, Muscat, the GCC-Stat organized a regional workshop on the management of quality in register-based censuses in the GCC countries. The workshop lasted for two days and ended on Tuesday 11th of April 2017.
The workshop was attended by senior officials and statisticians responsible for the provision of administrative register-based data that will be used for the census, as well as those concerned with the planning, preparation and production of census data in the GCC countries. It dealt with three main aspects: quality frameworks and concepts, census data error sources, and building quality into the census, in addition to the special consideration to be taken into account in register-based censuses.
Organizing this workshop, the GCC- Stat aims to develop and enhance the practical knowledge of census quality management personnel, especially register-based censuses through an understanding of the error sources in register-based censuses, knowledge of the of the key steps to build census quality, knowledge of the techniques used in quality management, understanding statistical assessment techniques of the housing and population censuses, and adoption of the GCC-Stat data quality framework in the Harmonized Administrative Register-Based 2020.
