GCC-STAT Honors Previous Board of Directors Members

The Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat) organised an honouring ceremony in appreciation of the efforts by the previous chairman and members of board of director.

The event took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Muscat and was presided over by H.E. Mariam Aqeel Al-Aqeel, Director General of the Central Statistical Bureau – State of Kuwait – and Chairman of the Board of Directors at GCC-Stat, who presented certificates of appreciation and accolades to H.E. Dr. Abdullah Yousef Sahar, former Director General of the Central Statistical Bureau in the State of Kuwait and former GCC-Stat Chairman of Board of Directors, and the former members of GCC-Stat board of directors: H.E. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jabor Al Thani, former Director General of the General Secretariat for Development Planning and the President of the Qatar Statistics Authority, and H.E. Muhana Abdulkareem Al Muhana, former Head of the Central Department of Statistics and Information in Saudi Arabia.
The ceremony was also attended by members of GCC-Stat board of directors as well as GCC-Stat members of staff.
Addressing the ceremony, H.E. Mariam Aqeel Al-Aqeel expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the former chairman and members of the GCC-Stat board of directors, stressing on the importance of their efforts during their tenure, which were very important during the foundation phase of the Centre that started operations in May 2013 and was officially inaugurated in April 2014. She elaborated on the achievements that have been achieved in the previous year, stressing on the Centre’s commitment to further enhance the statistical work in the GCC region in line with the vision and directives of Their Majesties and Highnesses the leaders of GCC member states, and to work constantly to meet the current and future requirements of the GCC member states as the region continues to develop and grow.
