GCC-STAT Hosts Coordination Meeting with 8 Regional and Arab Organizations
The Sultanate hosted yesterday (on Tuesday, April 21, 2015) the Coordination Meeting between GCC STAT and Regional Arab Organizations at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Muscat, organized by the Gulf Cooperation Council Statistical Center (GCC-STAT)
The meeting aimed to achieve coordination & cooperation among national and regional statistical organizations in an effort of creating consistency in statistical practices, management of statistical activities in accordance to agreed principles and foundations, and creation of a coordinated statistical system and the dissemination of high quality statistics.
The topics that were discussed in the meeting included reviewing the regional statistical progress & developments, statistical strategy of GCC-STAT, and reviewing possible cooperation opportunities in an aim to establish a common and unified Calendar to build the statistical capacity of the region.
Participants in the meeting organized by GCC-STAT included SESRIC, Arab Institute for Training and Research in statistics, Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Regional Office of International Labor Organization – Beirut, Arab Labor Organization, Arab Monetary Fund, United Nations Population Fund, and the Arab Planning Institute.
